# Slack alerts

Alerts for [Sumble Signals](https://docs.sumble.com/enterprise-services/sumble-signals) can be sent directly to sales reps' Slack accounts. We use the same data from [account matching](https://docs.sumble.com/sumble-signals#data-matching) to map account owners to Slack users.

## Setup

To enable Slack alerts, a person with Slack admin privileges can follow these steps:

1. Go to the [Account Settings](https://sumble.com/account/settings) page in Sumble
2. Click ![](https://591792295-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2Fd8pAyUZEiTL25GKepCIo%2Fuploads%2FUfM5MiWepOdPyvelPyJl%2Fslack.png?alt=media\&token=a624993a-7cb4-4d9d-a6f8-7e951f0c597b)
3. Follow the prompts to install the Sumble app in your workspace

Once installed, Sumble will automatically match users by email between your Slack workspace and Sumble accounts.

## Delivery options

Each user can choose how they receive Slack alerts:

* **Direct messages** — alerts are sent as DMs to the individual rep. This is the default when a user connects their Slack account.
* **Public channel** — alerts can be posted to a shared channel so teams can collaborate on opportunities together.

## Connecting your account

Individual users connect their Slack account from [Account Settings](https://sumble.com/account/settings). Once connected, Sumble maps your Slack identity to your Sumble account using your email address.

If your email doesn't match between Slack and Sumble, you can manually connect by selecting your Slack user during the setup flow. Sumble shows your team name so you can verify it's the right workspace.

## Managing notifications

Individual users can manage their Slack alert preferences directly from the Sumble app in Slack:

1. Open Slack and find **Sumble** in your apps (or search for it)
2. Go to the **Home** tab

From here you can configure two settings:

**Notification delivery**

* **Don't send any updates** — completely disables all Sumble notifications
* **Send updates to me directly** — receive alerts as DMs (default)
* **Send updates to a public channel** — post alerts to a shared channel

**Alert priority filter**

* **High priority** — only receive high-priority alerts
* **Medium and High priority** — receive medium and high-priority alerts
* **All alerts** — receive all alerts regardless of priority

To completely stop receiving Sumble notifications, select **Don't send any updates**.

## Alert content

Each Slack alert includes:

* The organization name and a link to the organization page on Sumble
* The signal type and a description of what was detected
* Priority level (high, medium, or low)
* A link to the relevant job post, person profile, or trend data

## Alert frequency

Alerts are delivered as they're generated — typically after each daily pipeline run. You won't receive duplicate alerts for the same signal.

## Troubleshooting

**Not receiving alerts?**

* Verify your Slack account is connected in [Account Settings](https://sumble.com/account/settings)
* Check that your Sumble email matches your Slack email, or that you've completed the manual connection
* Make sure you haven't muted the Sumble app in Slack
* Check your notification preferences in the Sumble app's Home tab in Slack — you may have selected "Don't send any updates"
* Alerts are generated based on your activity on Sumble — if you haven't used the platform recently, signal generation may be limited

**Need to reconnect?**

If your Slack workspace changes or you need to re-authorize, go to [Account Settings](https://sumble.com/account/settings) and click the Slack button again to reconnect.

## Slack permissions

Sumble's Slack app requires the following permissions:

* `chat:write`: Send alert notifications via DMs to users who opt in
* `chat:write.public`: Post alerts to public channels when configured
* `team:read`: Display your team name during the manual connection flow for verification
* `users:read`: Map users between Slack and Sumble
* `users:read.email`: Automatically match Sumble users to Slack users by email address
