# Credits

Credits are how Sumble meters data you take out of it: exports, contact reveals, API and MCP calls, and Ask Sumble answers. Browsing the web application is free.

## How credits work

Every action that extracts data costs credits. You pay for what you get back: the rows, the columns you pick, and the emails and phones Sumble finds.

### Credit costs

| Action | Cost |
| --------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Data exports** | Per row and per column, plus email and phone reveals we find. See [Data exports](/web-app/data-exports.md#credit-costs). |
| **Contact reveal** | 10 credits per email and 80 per phone, the first time you reveal them. Nothing is charged when none is found. |
| **API and MCP calls** | Priced per endpoint. See [API credits](/api/api.md#credits). |
| **Ask Sumble** | Varies per answer. See [Ask Sumble](#ask-sumble) below. |

### Ask Sumble

Ask Sumble, in the web app and in Slack, charges per answer rather than at a fixed rate, because no two questions take the same amount of work. Each answer costs:

* the AI work it takes to read your question, plan, and write the reply, and
* the standard credit cost of any data the agent looks up on your behalf — the same rates as the rest of this table.

A short question against data the agent has already loaded costs very little. One that searches broadly, pulls many organizations, or reveals contacts costs more, because it is doing more.

The agent shows what an answer cost next to **Done** when it finishes, so you can see the price of a question straight away. Every successful turn is also included in your usage at [Account > Credit Usage](https://sumble.com/account/usage). If an answer ends with an error, Sumble automatically refunds the credits charged during that attempt.

If your balance runs out mid-conversation, the agent stops before beginning another AI step and tells you it needs more credits. Depending on when the balance is exhausted, the response in progress may be incomplete. You can continue after your credits reset or you purchase more.

### Monthly allocations

Each plan includes a monthly credit allowance, listed in [Plans & billing](/get-started/plans-and-billing.md#compare-plans). Monthly credits reset each billing cycle.

### Company credit pools

An Enterprise company can hold a shared pool of credits for its members. Each member with a seat spends their own credits first. Once those are used up, Sumble draws from the company pool, so the member can keep working without buying credits of their own.

The pool runs for the company's contract term and ends with it.

Each member has a cap on how much they can draw from the pool in a term. Every seat type has a default cap, and the company's admins can set a different cap for any member on **My Team > Users** (see [Users & seats](/system-setup-and-configuration/admin-portal/users-and-seats.md#company-credit-pool)). A cap of zero means the member does not draw from the pool at all.

The balance Sumble shows you includes what you can still draw from the pool. [Account > Credit Usage](https://sumble.com/account/usage) shows your cap for the term, how much of it you have used, and when the term ends.

When the pool is empty or you reach your cap, ask one of your company's admins to raise your cap or refill the pool. Credits you purchase yourself stay yours and remain available whatever the state of the pool.

### Purchasing additional credits

If you need more credits beyond your monthly allocation:

1. Open [Account > Credit Usage](https://sumble.com/account/usage?purchase_credits=true). The link opens the purchase panel. You can also open it from **Purchase additional credits** on that page, from **Purchase more** in an export, or from the message you see when you run out of credits.
2. Pick a credit package and click **Purchase**.
3. Complete the purchase through Stripe
4. Credits are added to your balance immediately

Purchased credits expire 3 months after purchase. Your free monthly allocation continues alongside any purchased credits.

For packages above 25,000 credits or team-wide purchases, [contact sales](https://calendly.com/d/cnzk-sjk-q38/sumble).

## Frequently asked questions

**Are credits tied to individual accounts?**\
Yes. Credits cannot be shared between users. The exception is a [company credit pool](#company-credit-pools) on an Enterprise plan, which members draw from once their own credits are used up. For team-wide credit management, contact sales about enterprise packages.

**Can I get a refund on credits?**\
Credits you've spent are not refunded. Two cases settle automatically: an export refunds what it charged for rows it didn't return and contacts it didn't find, and Ask Sumble refunds an answer that ends with an error.

**Do unused monthly credits roll over?**\
No. Monthly allocation credits reset each cycle. Purchased credits last 3 months from the date of purchase.

**Where can I see my credit usage?**\
Go to [Account > Credit Usage](https://sumble.com/account/usage) to view your credit usage and remaining balance.

**Where can I download my invoices?**\
See [Downloading invoices](/get-started/plans-and-billing.md#downloading-invoices) in Plans & billing.

**What happens if I run out of credits?**\
You can still browse the web application. Exports, contact reveals, API and MCP calls, and Ask Sumble stop until your credits reset or you buy more.

**Do enterprise integrations use credits?**\
Data shares and CRM syncs (Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, blob stores, Salesforce, HubSpot) are covered by your contract, not credits. [Webhooks](/system-setup-and-configuration/data-destinations/webhooks.md) cost 1 credit per delivered event.
